Good feelings in the summer debut (0-0)

Málaga CF played their first pre-season match in Coín against Marbella FC. Despite the draw, Pellicer's team left a good feeling and had several options to score the winning goal. Next Thursday, the lads will play UD Almería at Marbella Football Center (18:00).

It was a hot Saturday afternoon in Coín to start the 2023/2024 season journey. After two weeks of training, Málaga CF were looking forward to their first pre-season game with enthusiasm and wearing their new official away kit, with the representative green and purple colours of the Málaga flag. The rival at the José Burgos Quintana was Marbella FC.

Pellicer selected the following starting-11: Carlos López; Jokin, Moussa, Juande, Murillo; Rafa, Sangalli, Juanpe; Jesús Martín, Roberto and Kevin.

Marbella got off to a very energetic start, making it difficult for the Malaguistas to control possession. Despite this, Málaga enjoyed their first scoring opportunities. Juanpe with a header (14') and Roberto with a shot on the run (18') starred in the approaches to the area before the water break.

Jokin and Kevin were highly active on the wings. Arrivals and attacks into the area put goalkeeper Lejarraga in trouble. After receiving a yellow card, Moussa was substituted in the 39th minute for Andrés Caro. Without any further notable action in the areas in the final stretch of the first half, the scoreboard remained 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, there were 10 changes to the Malaguista 11: Alfonso; Bilal, Andrés Caro, Einar, Víctor Olmo; Álex Calvo, Genaro, Izan Merino, Dani Lorenzo; Dioni and Loren featured in the second half of play.

A great attacking transition culminated by Álex Calvo (54'), a good combination in three quarters of the field finished by Bilal (75') and a powerful shot from Dani Lorenzo repelled by the Marbella goalkeeper were the team's clearest chances in the second half.

Despite the 0-0 result, Málaga kicked off the pre-season with good feelings, with different tactical tests throughout the match and the 22 participating players enjoyed their first minutes. Next Thursday 27th July, the Blue and Whites will play their second match within the summer preparations. An Andalusian derby against UD Almería at the Marbella Football Center (18:00).
