Pre-season

Pellicer - There are positive things, this is a new group with great enthusiasm

The coach held a press conference after Málaga CF's pre-season debut. “Little by little we are going to generate those habits, those concepts, that continuity and know what it is that we represent,” he said to the media.

Sergio Pellicer had a few words for the media present in Coín following the match against Marbella FC. After using two completely different line-ups in each half of the match, the coach stated that “we tried to get the boys to start with 45 minutes and, from then on, we know that at the start we have to get the team together. We’re still missing a lot of things, but it’s important to accumulate minutes and the fact there hasn’t been any type of injury. Now we need to analyse and focus on next week's game, where we’ll see players in action for more than 45 minutes,” he stated.

In regard to the positive sensations and the young group, he commented: “We are the youngest team. It’s one thing training and quite another competing. We need people with a lot of mental strength. There are young players who last year were in the reserve team who have competed and shown a good level. New people are assimilating the concepts and the physical condition. We don't want to individualise, but there are positive things.”

With the idea that the summer preparation is a reflection of what the Primera Federación has in store, Pellicer assures that “we’re all very clear on the message. It is a very tough competition, which is marked by small details and where the name of the rival is irrelevant,” he continued.

Regarding the players who were on loan last season away from La Rosaleda, he stated that “they are more mature now” and he expects them to take “that step forward.”

“Little by little we are going to generate those habits, those concepts, that continuity and know what it is that we represent. This is a new group with great enthusiasm,” he concluded.
