Bittersweet draw at Anoeta (1-1)

Málaga went ahead of Real Sociedad with a Duje Cop goal, the only thing halting a Malaguista victory was an offside goal.

The cold, the wind and the rain welcomed Málaga CF upon arrival at San Sebastian, fortunately before the game, the wind calmed and despite the low temperature, the climate was not a hindrance for the Malaguistas who were without Torres and Camacho due to an accumulation of cards.

Ricca made his debut in good form on the left side and Weligton surpassed Fernando Sanz milestone of 206 matches and an accolade that makes him the fourth player in White and Blues history after Duda, Migueli and Martinez.

The possession in the first half went to Malaga. Javi Gracia’s men played well and Recio had a great chance with a set piece in the 20th minute which tipped over by very little. The visitors dominated but Real Sociedad woke up and had a chance to test the woodwork of Kameni’s goal with a couple of corners. Málaga made another push and in the 31st minute Ricca ran deep down his side then crossing into Charles who’s strike just hit the bottom of the post.

The second half started with both teams alternating in possession. It was like this until Recio passed to Duje Cop who would finish putting the White and Blues in to the lead in the 57th minute. Real pressed in search of a draw but the Malaguistas defended well. Only an offside move for a second consecutive week, gave a goal to Agirretxe, drawing the game and tarnishing the hard work and resilience that Málaga have shown throughout. In the end, a point for Málaga that brings them to 32 points in the table who now face two more games in one week against Valencia in La Rosaleda and Deportivo far away from home.
