Bernardi, Coco, Borredá and a recognised tradition

For another year, the Club, through its Foundation, delivered season tickets to three Malaguista legends who survived the CD Málaga plane crash in 1956.

La Rosaleda stadium was witness recently to the presentation of season tickets to legendary ex Blue and White footballers Bernardo Narváez ‘Bernardi’ and Diego Rodríguez ‘Coco’, by Club advisers Abdullah Ben Barek and Antonio Benítez, accompanied by president of the ‘Málaga CF Forever’, Ernesto Terrón. In addition, Benítez visited the home of Gonzalo Borredá to deliver his Málaga Club de Fútbol season ticket for the 2018/19 campaign.

Survivors

On 29th September 1956 the CD Málaga squad travelled to Tenerife for Second Division matchday 4. After a stop in Las Palmas, the plane transporting the team suffered an accident that caused the aircraft to catch fire. All 33 members of the Blue and White expedition miraculously survived.

Bernardi, Coco and Borredá, members of that team, survived the accident with the rest of the squad and ended the 56/57 season in 5th place in the ‘zona sur’ of the silver division.
