Málaga CF are seeking their first away win of the season, and as such, are counting on a special talisman on Sunday, Basti, who knows how it feels to score and win at Butarque municipal stadium.
Much has happened since the last Leganés-Málaga. It was 18 years ago, when both teams competed in the Second Division. The former Blue and Whites’ striker in the 90s, and current member of the MCF Foundation’s Social Department, Sebastián Fernández Reyes ‘Basti’, will always remember the 18th October 1998. His two goals led Málaga CF to victory, and contributed to the subsequent First Division promotion at the end of the season.
After nearly two decades, #LeganésMálaga is about to be repeated, but this time in the elite. Basti didn’t want to miss this match, and will be cheering on Míchel’s team from the stands. He hopes one of the Malaguista players will copy his scoring double and achieve victory.
