Ayala: “It’s been historic”

The MCFF coach spoke to the media on the pitch at La Rosaleda following #MálagaRayo in the third round of the Copa de la Reina. “They gave their all, the fans rewarded them, now it’s time for the league,” he said.

The Málaga CF Femenino coach had a few words for the media at La Rosaleda after #MálagaRayo in the third round Copa de la Reina tie.

Firstly, he valued his team’s gameplay, and how emotional it was to “see the girls crying following such an immense effort against a great team that played good football.” He continued by saying “we need to view this as a prize, knowing the elite and how we need to get there, working hard to keep improving and play against First Division rivals as we did today.”

In regard to the result, Ayala commented: “There were two little details, we generated occasions but without success. I'm super proud of them, they fought hard, but when we had a defence of three, we had to make a double effort to go for them and the legs were tired. They gave their all, the fans rewarded them, now it’s time for the league.”

The Malaguista coach says it’s “historic” getting to this stage of the competition being in Primera Nacional: “We’re a really young squad,” so we “need to keep fighting to try and get the Club in the top flight, where it deserves to be.”

Lastly, he talked about the fans’ support at La Rosaleda. “We were thrilled. We wanted to return the favour with a win, but it wasn’t to be.”
