Málaga CF Femenino defeated AD FB La Rambla by 1-0 in the seventh league match of Segunda División Nacional Group IV. With this result, the Blue and Whites’ team achieve their sixth win, and thanks to Sporting Huelva’s defeat against Granada, the girls are now top of the table.
Following a weekend without competition, the Malaguistas returned to Cártama. After initial possession by the Blue and Whites, La Rambla reinforced their defence and transformed the fluidity of the local’s gameplay into a rocky, complicated match. Málaga dominated the rival area, but didn’t manage to convert. Encarni tried her luck in minute 12 from outside the area, but the ball was blocked by the Córdoba keeper. Noelia returned to the charge in 18’, but the Malaguistas lacked a certain definition, despite their dominance. With five minutes remaining in the first half, Kerlly had the most promising opportunity for Contreras’ girls at her feet, but the ball escaped behind the goal line. With time almost up, a pass from Adriana to Sandra allowed the winger to open the scoring to give Málaga a well-deserved advantage at half-time (1-0).
In the second half, the Blue and Whites came out fighting. The local coach made some changes, bringing on María R. in substitution of Farfán. In the 54th minute of play, the referee showed Adriana her second yellow card – the first was in minute 6 – for not asking permission to take a free kick, and the Blue and Whites’ forward was sent off. Both teams shared the attack from one area to the other. Sheila had a clear chance to increase her team’s lead in 71’ thanks to a clean pass from Encarni, but she was unable to find the net. Málaga kept insisting for the remainder of the second half, but the scoreboard remained the same, and the final result was a 1-0 victory for the locals.
