An unmistakable flavour, Sabor a Málaga

Málaga CF attended the closing ceremony of the Sabor a Málaga fair yesterday, held between Saturday 3rd and Wednesday 8th December at the Paseo del Parque. Escassi, Silvia and Óscar accompanied the Club’s main sponsor at this event.

Making the most of the 800 metres of the Paseo del Parque, the Sabor a Malaga fair organised the 90 gastronomic exhibitors who featured at the event. The Eduardo Ocón venue also took centre stage and hosted various themed activities. On Saturday, for example, it was dedicated to the province's ‘salchichón’ and raisins, whilst on Sunday the onus was on products derived from the sea. On the closing day, Wednesday 8th December, Sabor a Málaga wanted to help La Palma. The Diputación organised a great feast in honour of the island province, which suffered from the recent volcano eruption and its devastating consequences. #TodosconLaPalma was an absolute success, and we didn't want to miss it!

Sabor a Málaga is synonymous with goodness, joy, hospitality and solidarity. For this reason, Francisco Salado, president of the Diputación de Málaga, and Leonor García-Agua, director of the Presidency of the Diputación de Málaga and Sabor a Malaga, were magnificent hosts for the Malaguista expedition. José María Muñoz, Málaga CF’s judicial administrator, and Sebastián Fernández ‘Basti’, from the MCF Foundation’s Social Department, accompanied Escassi, from the men’s first team; Silvia Mérida, from the women's first team; and Óscar, from the Genuine team, to enjoy this Malaguista day of solidarity, bringing a lot of flavour of our land.

For every ‘solidarity sardine skewer’, visitors to the fair were added to the big Malaguista prize draw. Five Blue and White shirts, signed by the male first team as well as other away shirts were all included in the raffle!

Ten very special shirts that reflect much more than the collaboration between Málaga CF and Sabor a Málaga displayed on the front. It conveys a return to our origins, with the royal blue of the stripes. It means trust in the province, staying committed to the Entity during a difficult time. It signifies continuing to take care of that Sabor a Malaga, which Malagueños love so much, and which makes those who visit our city fall in love. There are 103 essential ingredients that give us this flavour. It means so much!

Our players who attended the event didn’t want to miss the chance to thank our official sponsor for the MCFTV cameras. Escassi, one of the first team captains, commented: “It’s been amazing being at the Sabor a Málaga fair with the Diputación. Personally, I’d like to thank them for their immense help. During such tough times for the Club, the Diputación has been right beside us and taken a step forward. I’d like to thank them for everything they’re doing for us, and I hope our paths continue together for many years to come. It’s a pleasure to enjoy so many gastronomic delights from our land. We’re privileged to be from Málaga.”

For her part, Silvia Mérida was happy to experience this event together with players from other sections of the Club. “It’s a privilege for me to be here with my teammates and enjoy this event with the products from our home, Málaga. It’s an honour to feature the sponsor on our team shirts,” she said. Lastly, Óscar, a player from the MCF Foundation’s Supercapacitad@s School, added: “The products from Sabor a Málaga are 10 out of 10.”

Wines, cheeses, oils, jams, fruit, vegetables, cured meats, potatoes, sweet treats, honey, dried fruits and so much more. From Ardales to Sierra Yeguas. The Sabor a Málaga fair is the ideal way to showcase these delights from the province, Andalucía and the country.

Thank you so much for your ongoing commitment to local products, Diputación. Málaga is quality, Malaga is Province. The unmistakable flavour, Sabor a Málaga!
