Álvaro Fernández and Spain have qualified to the under-17 World Cup quarter-finals. The national side defeated France and will now compete against Iran for a place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
Santi Denia’s squad defeated France in a thrilling duel that was decided at the end. Pintor put the rival in the lead (0-1, 34’) and, just before half-time, Miranda equalised (1-1, 44’). Nearing the final whistle, Abel Ruiz, from the penalty spot (1-2, 90’) led Spain to victory.
Young Blue and Whites’ goalkeeper, Álvaro Fernández, as in the previous three games, was in the starting line-up and played the entire 90 minutes.
As such, Spain will take part in the quarter-finals of the U-17 World Cup, with Iran as the adversary. The match will take place on Sunday 22nd October (13:30, Spanish time, GOL) in Kochi (India).
