Alfonso Herrero is one of the seven signings MCF has made so far in the transfer market. The goalkeeper made his debut today at his new stadium with a great performance, featuring in several notable saves: “Above all I’m happy to help the team. I think we’re doing a good job on a day-to-day basis, the goalkeepers and the rest of the players. Being able to help the team is always good, I think today was a good day. We were able to read the game well and leave with a victory. Those feelings are important,” he explained.
Regarding his debut: “I really wanted to experience a match at home, I was very excited to play here, as I’ve already experienced it as a visitor. The important thing is to stick together, support the team and all move in the same direction to take Málaga where it deserves to be. It’s been a very special day for me, I’m looking forward to continuing to play many matches here,” he commented.
Lastly, he talked about the pressure Málaga CF may experience this season: “Pressure is subjective, but it’s clear that playing here is not the same as playing at other grounds. I think that this well-understood pressure is good and much-needed. When things don't go well, maybe it's good for us. We need to do our best for the fans and change what we’re not doing well. Playing in such a big club can bring many highs and lows. If we’re able to stay in the middle ground and pull together, we can have a good season.”
