Alexander ends his participation in the Copa América

Venezuela lost 0-1 against Peru, their final group B game, and are knocked out of the competition having scored two points in four matches.

Alexander González’s time in the Copa América 2021 in Brazil is over. Venezuela lost their final Group B match on Sunday night against Peru (0-1), with a winning goal scored by André Carrillo. The Malaguista played the final 21 minutes, coming on in place of former Malaguista Roberto Rosales.

With this result, the ‘Vinotinto’ squad are eliminated from the first phase of the competition, ending in fifth place in the group with two points, achieved against Colombia and Ecuador.

On a personal level, Alexander González has participated in the four group games. In the first two, against Brazil and Colombia, he played 90 minutes and was substituted in stoppage time; he played the entire match against Ecuador; whilst in the fourth and final match he joined play in minute 69.
