Al Thani, a record president

Today, the Málaga CF president, with 2,479 days, becomes the longest-serving leader out of all Club denominations, with a record number of seasons in the First Division and an historic participation in the UEFA Champions League.

The Martiricos entity has had 32 presidents, since 1933 until today, 8th April 2017, within the different denominations of the principal club in the capital. Up to now, the record of longevity in the post was held by Juan Moreno de Luna, president of CD Málaga, between 9th January 1963 and 22nd October 1969. In total, six years, nine months and 13 days (2,478 days).

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani became MCF President on 25th June 2010, so today he surpasses Moreno de Luna’s record, and is approaching seven years as president (2,479 days). With the current president at the helm of the Club, they have achieved the best League classifications in history (4th and 6th place, as well as their unique and successful participation in the UEFA Champions League (quarter finals).

Furthermore, with Al Thani, the Club has accumulated a record number of consecutive seasons in the First Division of Spanish football (nine, the last seven being under his presidency).

On 25th April, the match against Granada CF at Nuevo Los Cármenes will mark another milestone: official match number 300 with the Sheikh as president of the Club.
