A weekend full of tournaments in F-7

Málaga CF’s 7-a-side teams took part in four tournaments, both at home and abroad.

The Blue and White colours of Málaga CF travelled over Spain and France over the past weekend to take part in the different tournaments played by the MCF Academy’s 7-a-side teams.

  • Levante Cup - Prebenjamín

The Prebenjamín won the prestigious Levante Cup. The youngest team in the MCF Academy played an immaculate tournament, winning all seven matches throughout the competition. The grand final against CD Tiro Pichón ended in a 4-1 victory for the Blue and Whites.

  • Pitchoun’s Cup - Benjamín

This tournament, held near Marseille in France, involved the Benjamín 2010, who returned to Málaga with the bronze medal. After defeating Luynes, Joinville, Everton, Gardia and Paris FC, drawing with Vaux en Velón and losing to Kas Eupen in the group stage, Málaga CF reached the round of 16 in which they beat VSG Futsal by 2-1. In the quarter-finals, the rival was Sevilla FC, who they defeated by 1-0. It was in the semi-finals that Sparta Prague, who went on to win the tournament, defeated our team (2-3). In the third-place decider, MCF beat Sporting Lisbon by 1-0.

  • Danone Cup - Alevín

Without doubt, one of the most prestigious national tournaments in the Alevín category. Málaga CF didn’t lose any of their games: in the group stage they drew with Levante and Atlético de Madrid, and in the quarter-finals, after a 3-3 tie, Espanyol won on penalties. In the end, the Alevín 2008 came in 7th place, after losing to Betis and beating Las Palmas.

  • EuroPoussins - Benjamín

Few tournaments can boast of bringing together 48 teams from France, Spain, England, Italy, Portugal, Germany and Holland, amongst other nationalities, like the EuroPoussins. The Benjamín 2009 ended the competition in 15th place, ahead of teams such as Manchester United, AS Roma, Benfica and Liverpool.  Málaga CF defeated Olympique de Lyon, Manchester United, Vannes, Lannion and Girondins de Bordeaux in the group stage. In the round of 16, Nantes defeated our team, preventing the Benjamín from going any further. They ended the tournament with a 2-3 defeat by PSV, a 1-1 draw with Guingamp and a 5-0 victory against Valenciennes.
