A united team against gender violence

The MCF Foundation and University of Málaga organised, for the third consecutive year, a round table on the subject of gender equality. Players Cifu and Adriana Martin attended as speakers.

The ‘Aula Magna’ of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the UMA hosted the round table this Monday ‘A TEAM against gender violence’. The MCF Foundation and University offered, for another year, a discussion about equality between men and women in the fight against gender violence.

The deputy rector for equality and social action at the UMA, Isabel Jiménez, accompanied by Sebastián Fernández ‘Basti’, head of the social department of the MCF Foundation, and the dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Inmaculada Postigo, inaugurated this event in the presence of various institutions.

Government sub-delegate in Málaga, María Gámez; councillor for Social Rights at Málaga City Hall, Raúl Jiménez; head of Services at the Andalusian Institute for Women, Silvana Recio; and the psychologist of the equality service of the provincial council, Teresa Luna, were present at the event and took charge of adding the final point to the round table.

Speakers at the table: professor of journalism, Laura Teruel; Málaga CF Femenino captain, Adriana Martín; Málaga CF player, Cifu; karate star, Jéssica Moreno; and the ASISA Alhaurín de la Torre Basketball player, Carmen Ortiz, contributed their vision on gender equality and presented numerous points of view to an audience made up of high school and university students.

Statements by Cifu and Adriana

Cifu

“I think you can see that we’re a team. We have a large squad and are all doing our bit. It’s important that everyone feels involved so when their time comes, they can step up and you don’t notice the absence of other players. It is clear that in the fight against gender violence we must all be united. There are still many inequalities and many things to fight for”.

Adriana

“Málaga is pure art in these things and always gets behind these projects. We are one, I believe Málaga is a pioneer in such matters and we will continue supporting as there’s still a lot to do. We do what we enjoy doing, playing football is our passion and it’s an important match to boost our confidence. We cannot wait for Wednesday. We want to win whatever happens and increase the points distance”.
