It was a goalless draw for Málaga CF and Marbella FC this Tuesday afternoon. The Blue and Whites were solid in defence and midfield and created various opportunities.
Málaga CF, currently concentrated in Estepona during the summer pre-season ‘stage’, faced Marbella FC today in a friendly at Marbella Football Center. The match, which generated great expectation throughout the Costa del Sol locality, was the third touchstone for the Blue and Whites this pre-season.
The Malaguistas attempted to dominate ball possession and control the pace of play. With a strong defensive line and an efficient midfield, the Blue and Whites tried to maintain a strong structure on the pitch. Marbella FC had chances but didn’t manage to penetrate the goal defended by Andrés Prieto.
Málaga CF had several options to take the lead in the first half, but Juanpi, Juan Cruz, and En-Nesyri, on two occasions, didn’t have clear definition in their respective chances. At half-time the scoreboard remained at 0-0.
Barely five minutes into the second half, Mula generated the clearest option of the match so far. En-Nesyri sent a powerful cross from the left, but the winger missed out on opening the scoring by millimetres.
One hour into the match and the Malaguista coach introduced nine changes to refresh the Blue and Whites.
Adrián in 82’ grazed the post with a precise header and Ontiveros, showing the skill of a tightrope walker on the by-line, also hit the post in 87’. The final result was a definitive 0-0.
Juan Ramón López Muñiz selected the following players: Andrés Prieto (Munir 45’), Iván Rodríguez (Rosales, 60’), Abqar (Luis Hernández, 60’), Diego Glez (I. Miquel, 60’), Juankar (Ricca, 35’), Iturra (Lacen, 60’), Boulahroud (Recio, 60’), Juan Cruz (Harper, 60’), Mula (Ontiveros, 60’), Juanpi (Renato Santos, 60’) and En-Nesyri (Adrián, 60’).
