A point scored from the indestructible Riazor

It was all square for Málaga CF and RC Deportivo on LaLiga 1|2|3 matchday 8. N’Diaye for the visitors and Carlos Fernández for the locals were the goal-scorers.

The Malaguistas were away to Dépor this Sunday at the Abanca Riazor which boasted a great atmosphere. The kick-off time, 18:00, and the promise of an exciting duel between these rivals generated immense expectation at the Deportivo stadium. At this venue, the locals had won both their home games so far in the competition.

For this match, Muñiz selected the same starting-11 as last weekend against CF Rayo Majadahonda, in which the home side won 1-0 at La Rosaleda. Adrián was first up in an attempt to take the lead, but goalkeeper Dani Giménez securely prevented a goal from the edge of the area by the number ‘8’.

For their part, Dépor tried to surprise the Malaguistas in the initial stages of play, however, although they had a good opportunity, didn’t manage to surpass Munir’s goal. The Blue and Whites’ defence, wearing black today, impeded the attacks by the home side with solvency. After a few minutes, both teams settled on the pitch in the quest to control possession. At half-time the scoreboard remained at 0-0.

Soon into the second half, the Malaguistas went ahead. N’Diaye scored after taking advantage of a rebound in an intricate play inside the area. The shot came up against a rival player yet ended up in the back of the net in minute 54 of play (0-1).

Following the goal, Dépor went level in minute 75 with a goal from Carlos Fernández (1-1). A few minutes later, local player Quique was shown a straight red card for kicking Luis Hernández in the head when executing a bicycle kick.

Both teams gave their all in the final throes of play, creating occasions in both areas. At the final whistle the result was 1-1 and both rivals shared the points.
