A point in Aldaia complicates safety (2-2)

Málaga CF Femenino claimed a draw in Valencia after trailing 2-0. Claudia and Ale took the match level following the two goals from María.

Málaga CF Femenino rescued a point, despite deserving three, away to UD Aldaia on matchday 8 of Group Sur D in the Reto Iberdrola, on Sunday’s clash held at Polideportivo Municipal Aldaia Jaume Ortí.

Javi Ramos’ girls arrived at this game with 18 points, needing a win to face the last two matches with room for manoeuvre in their fight to stay in the division.

In regard to the line-up, Andrea was in goal; a defence of three featuring Andrea Ríos, María Cortés and Yoli; María Ruíz and Marina on the wings; Lorena, Clo and Arantxa in midfield; and Claudia and Futu upfront.

The match soon became an uphill struggle for MCFF, with the girls finding themselves 2-0 down with two goals from María in 4’ and 20’. Far from giving up, the Blue and Whites quickly got into the match thanks to the goal from Claudia in 24’. At half-time the scoreboard remained at 2-1.

In the second half, Javi Ramos made his first two substitutions to step up the attack, bringing on Ana Buceta and Tati for Marina and Yoli. An hour into play, Edna replaced Arantxa. Minutes later Futu made way for Alejandra, whilst the final change was Farfán in place of Lorena.

The Malaguistas gave their all and their direct play soon closed up the rival, leading to an equaliser from Alejandra in 83’ (2-2). In the final stages Javi Ramos’ girls were determined to score the winning third goal, but the match ended all square.

With this result, Málaga CF Femenino are in 8th place in Group Sur D of Reto Iberdrola with 19 points, five away from safety, and a coefficient of 0,864. Joventut Almassora, in 5th place with 24 and 1,043, marks the safe spot.

The Blue and Whites need to win the upcoming two games to stay in the division - at home against Levante B and away to Femarguín – and depend on other results.
