A mixed day for the young MCF internationals

Álvaro Fernández and Spain won their match in the U-17 World Cup taking place in India, whilst Morocco’s U-21s with En-Nesyri and Hicham lost in a friendly against Italy.

MCF Academy goalkeeper, Álvaro Fernández and Spain’s Under-17s achieved the first victory in the World Cup of this category, taking place in India, after defeating Niger (4-0). Abel Ruiz scored a double (21’ and 41’), plus César Gelabert (45+1’) and Sergio Gómez (82’) sealed the victory.

The Blue and Whites’ goalkeeper was in the starting line-up and played the 90 minutes, as he did in the first World Cup match against Brazil. Spain’s under-17s will be in action again on Friday 13th October against the Republic of Korea, their last match in the first stage. A win for Spain would secure a place in the round of 16, in second place in Group D.

Nesyri and Hicham, with Morocco’s Under-21s

Youssef En-Nesyri and Hicham Boussefiane took part in an international friendly in Ferrara (Bologna) against Italy. The friendly between Italy and Morocco’s Under-21s ended in a 4-0 local victory.

The first team striker, wearing the number ‘9’ jersey, was in the starting line-up and played on the attacking front line, being substituted in minute 81. The reserve team winger, meanwhile, left the bench in the second half, and played for 45 minutes wearing the number ‘16’ jersey.
