A life dedicated to the ‘Malaguista Family’

The new Málaga CF coach is a man of the house, with three seasons within the first team as coach, and nearly a decade at the Club of his life.

Clever Marcelo Romero Silva ‘Gato’ Romero was born on 4th July 1976 in Montevideo (Uruguay), forming part of Málaga CF’s first team as a player between 2001 and 2007, competing in 147 matches between LaLiga, Copa del Rey and European competitions (Intertoto and UEFA Cup).  Marcelo Romero was part of the Blue and Whites’ major successes, such as winning the Intertoto Cup, or the team that defeated FC Barcelona in the League by 5-1.

In addition, he was an international with Uruguay, reaching the runner up position in the Copa America in 1999, and taking part in the South Korea and Japan World Cup in 2002.

Six seasons as a Málaga CF player, and three within the coaching team, in which he was in the dugout for three matches, resulting in two victories (against Las Palmas and Sporting), and a draw (away against Deportivo).  Nearly 10 years at the Club of his life, and an entire sporting career dedicated to the ‘Malaguista Family’.
