3,000 Malaguistas enjoy watching open training session

Fans enjoyed the first training session of the year at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium today. A particularly special session for children, in which Weligton and Marcelo Romero were the stars of the day.

The Málaga CF players returned to work this Monday evening, the first training session of 2017.  And they weren’t alone.  As many as 3,000 Blue and Whites’ fans came to watch the team in action today.

It was a special day for new coach, Marcelo Romero, who stepped on to the pitch to an emotional gesture alongside Weligton, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd at the Ciudad de Málaga.

The young fans showed their delight, enjoying a series of activities organised by the Club, including face-painting, balloons and catching footballs launched into the stands by the players.

The first team footballers were in training for an hour and a half, in a session that was dominated by work with the ball.  After an initial warm-up, the players trained on a reduced-sized pitch, and ended the session with a mini-match.

Keko and Iván Rodríguez worked under the orders of fitness trainer, Hugo Camarero, whilst Weligton and Charles exercised in the gym.  For his part, Sandro arrived a few minutes late to the session, due to a medical incident on his flight from the Canaries to Málaga.

The team will return to work on Tuesday at 10:30 at the Ciudad de Málaga stadium.
