10th anniversary of the Federation of Málaga Supporters’ Clubs

Today, Saturday, in a Restaurante Balcón de los Montes in Colmenar, a celebration took place to mark the 10th anniversary of Federation of Málaga Supporters’ Clubs, or ‘Federación de Peñas Malaguistas’.

On behalf of Málaga CF were the Consultant Advisors Francisco Martín Aguilar and José Carlos Pérez, together with the General Manager, Fernando Hierro.  Also in attendance were the Junta de Andalucías’s Head of Tourism, Trade and Sport, Luciano Alonso; the provincial government’s Fran Oblade, representatives of the AFEPE; and the Mayor of Colmenar, amongst others.

The president of the Federation, Miguel Molina, commented: “It’s a special day for the fans of Málaga. Our slogan ‘VIOLENCE NO, FOOTBALL YES’. Over the years various meals and fellowship ceremonies have taken place between the fans and the sports people.  There are 10 ‘penas’ currently being set-up in the province and there are also bases in the Middle East, Sweden, Mexico and other parts of Spain.  Thanks to the new directors for their enthusiasm for the Club to grow.  We’ll continue for another ten years or ten thousand years cheering on the team.  Here’s to health, hard work and that Málaga finishes up where it deserves to be. To Málaga!!”

Hierro, similarly, said “congratulations for your tenth anniversary and we’ve got to tell you that we have an ambitious, nice and interesting challenge, and we’re counting on your support; we need you, the city’s fans.  I’m in my home town with the mindset and heart that we’ll all in this together.”

On the other hand, Martín Aguilar appreciated the “ongoing support for Málaga” and hoped that “these further 10 ‘peñas’ in development will grow the Federation and the fan base; every day you cheer on the team so that they get good results.”

Alonso affirmed: “If I tell you that Málaga is going places, they’ll say it’s just because its my home town’s team, but also it’s because there’s a board of directors with new ideas and commitments, with renewed expectations.  A great team, a great manager, a great fan base, and Fernando Hierro has come to stay; and the supporters’ clubs, well, without them nothing would be possible – the show and the sport needs you.  I hope that very soon we’ll be talking about Málaga being in Champions, something we all dream of.”

On behalf of the Club, Aguilar presented Molina with a commemorative plaque for the Federation’s 10th anniversary.  Almost all the 23 federated ‘peñas’ were present, and were given a plaque after the lunch.  Those supporters’ clubs present included:
