Míchel will take the reins of Málaga CF

The coach, who has ample experience in the LaLiga dugout, will steer the Malaguista ship for the remainder of this season plus one more.

José Miguel González Martín del Campo (Madrid, 23/03/63), known in the sporting world as Míchel, will be the new Málaga CF coach until the 2017/18 season. The coach will lead his first training session with the first team tomorrow morning, and later will be presented at 17:00 at La Rosaleda stadium.

Míchel has wide experience in the dugout in Spanish football, with Rayo Vallecano, Real Madrid Castilla, Sevilla FC and Getafe CF, the latter with whom he qualified to the UEFA Europa League in the 2009/10 season. Outside our borders, he was coach of Olympique de Marseille in France’s Ligue 1, and in Greece he won two Superleagues and one Cup with Olympiacos FC in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, when the team also reached the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League.

The new Malaguista coach also enjoyed a long, successful career as a Real Madrid player, achieving six League titles, two Copa del Rey and two UEFA Cup wins. In addition, he was an international with Spain in 66 matches, taking part in the World Cup in Mexico in 1986, and in Italy in 1990.
