Málaga was on the road to the Silver League with many new faces and a new project. Even so, Málaga Club de Fútbol did not qualify among the top four.

It was all left for the last game of the season against Recreativo de Huelva at the Colombino, but the blue and whites only managed a 2 – 2 draw, leaving them in fifth position. Antonio Benítez continued as chief coach until mid-way through the season when José Antonio Jiménez Rueda substituted him.The sharp forward Sousa was the top goal scorer for the blue and whites with 13 goals. The rest of the goal scorers were the Galician midfielder Manu who had 8 to his name and Malagueños Almagro and Basti scoring 6.
