“You see a very united team, everyone works hard and makes sacrifices”

The Málaga CF coach described the match against Córdoba CF as “very complete” and highlights the collective work of his players. “If I talked about one individual it would be unfair to the others, everyone made a great effort”, he says.

A very complete match

“It was a very complete match, both in attack and defence. In addition, you see a very united team, everyone works hard and makes sacrifices when they need to. They know how to suffer when they have to suffer, and enjoy when they can enjoy. During a match there are alternatives, but I think we had a lot of control over the game”.

Sacrifice

“We have to maintain this level of sacrifice. Today we had a margin of goals that allowed us to be calmer in the final stages than we’ve been in past games, but also on other occasions we had moments in which we could have scored but we didn’t, but that’s football. You have to know how to play in all scenarios. Now we must enjoy this match, rest and think about the next one. We can’t stop during this first stage, we need to focus on being fully prepared for the next game, so we are able to compete”.

Team

“It would be very unfair to talk about a single player. Just as we talked about Alfred we could talk about anyone else. The virtue of the Club is that there’s a team out there on the pitch. If I talked about one individual it would be unfair to the others, everyone made a great effort. I value everyone’s performance, it was very good”.

Fans

“They deserved to spend the weekend enjoying their team. The Club tries to make every week as wonderful as possible for people supporting Málaga. We know it was a good match, everyone enjoyed it; they deserve it because their support has been immense since day one. The encouragement following the relegation has been incredible and we need to thank them with our hard work, beyond the result”.

First goal

“It works in different situations; it’s a play in which the main thing is we have good shooters, good passers who know and understand how to make the most of any small oversight from the rival. The one who decides the throw-in, the one who is unmarked, and the one who makes the second play can read the action perfectly and it works. Yet other times it hasn’t gone so well. Above all, it has helped us to manage the scoreboard in our favour from early on. We were facing a team with good criteria who managed the ball well, yet we took the lead promptly”.
