Winning debut for Álvaro Fernández and Juan Cruz

It was a clear win for Spain against Algeria in the Mediterranean Games debut. Homegrown Malaguistas, Álvaro Fernández and Juan Cruz participated in the victory.

The Spanish Under-18s got off to an outstanding start in these games. The first Group A match, between Spain and Algeria, was held at Juan Ríos de Calafell municipal stadium (Tarragona).

Coach, Luis de la Fuente counted on Álvaro Fernández (pictured above) as starting goalkeeper in the line-up, and also gave minutes during the course of play to Blue and Whites’ juvenil player, Juan Cruz.

Rapid braces from Abel Ruiz (5’ and 16’) and Sergio Gómez (11’ and 20’) sealed the match in the first half. Boutriff (75’) scored the honorary goal for Algeria to mark the definitive 4-1 result.
