Weligton Robson Pena de Oliveira
Weligton (26/08/1979) arrived at Málaga Club de Fútbol in the 2007/08 season, from the Swiss Grasshopper Club.  He’s played a total of 38 matches in the League, and helped the team gain promotion to the First Division.  In his first season, in the highest category of Spanish football, the Brazilian central defender played 34 games, and scored his first goal as a ‘Malaguista’.  In the 09/10 season, he only played 21 matches, due to a significant injury he sustained.  He recovered in time to start the 2010/11 season, as one of the team’s most important defenders (31 games).  Throughout this season, Weligton has played in 18 matches, scoring one goal, with a very solid display in the final stage of the BBVA League.

“Both parties have reached an agreement, where there was interest on both sides.  I always wanted to be part of a major club and play in the big competitions.  I never thought Málaga would reach European competition in such a short time, it’s an amazing achievement.  I arrived during a tough time for the team, and I believe I’ve played my part in making Club history.  It’s great to see Málaga reach such a high level”, Weligton tells MCF-TV.

Jesús Gámez Duarte

Jesús Gámez (10/04/85) started with Málaga Club de Fútbol’s youth teams.  After he became a Blue and Whites reserve player, he made his debut with the first team in the First Division in 2005/06.  He played 38 games in 06/07 in the Second Division, and proved himself to be a crucial part of the team in the following season, when they achieved promotion to the First Division (35 matches).  During the next two seasons in the highest League division, Gámez became one of the best right-wing defenders.  In 2008/09 he played in 35 games, whilst in 09/10 he played 36.  In the 2010/11 season he also proved to be an important team member, with 32 official matches in the First Division.  Gámez has played 24 matches this season, again highlighting he is a top quality player on the pitch”.
“I couldn’t have asked for anything more.  After we made history this season, the Club still has faith in me.  I’m so happy.  I started when I was just 15, so I’ve been here for 12 years, and six with the first team.  So much has happened since then, but we’ve been rewarded for all our hard work, and now we can enjoy what we’ve achieved.  The years keep passing me by, and I’ll soon be 30.  Taking into account our ambition, and the aspirations of all the players, if we win a trophy one day, it’ll be amazing for Málaga”, Gámez tells MCF-TV.
