“We have a responsibility to compete”

Sergio Pellicer held a press conference at La Rosaleda this Thursday. “We represent a lot of people,” he said regarding the team's commitment in the last three league fixtures.

The Málaga CF coach believes that “we have a responsibility and a lot of people behind us. We have to compete. We’ve seen what happened the previous matchday with other teams, who were already in a situation where they had nothing. We do have that 0.01% and we represent a lot of people, the people of the Club, the day to day, the invisible,” he stressed.

“It’s an act of responsibility, of dignity with our profession, and above all, conveying that we have to fight. This will be the way to manage it and I have practically all the players (available),” he went on to say.

This is how Pellicer views Saturday's rival, CD Mirandés. “They are a team with a lot of energy, a lot of young people. They’re a highly vertical team, with players who in the future will be at top level. During the season they have changed the structure, now they are with a 3-4-3 and a 5-4-1 formation in defence. They’ve found a game idea, but above all what stands out the most is the energy; a vertical team that isn’t afraid and is going to give us a two-way game,” he said.

The coach from Nules has “a very clear idea” about how to play against the team from Burgos. “We want to be close to the rival area, generate more dangerous situations, more finishes, be more decisive in those areas and be aggressive without the ball. We must give our best version, full of energy,” he explained.

Finally, he referred to the Malaguista parish. “I understand the fans perfectly. They are the ones who suffer the most, along with the employees, us, the professionals too. It’s a feeling, a passion. We are going to fight and then there will be time to assess and take responsibility, which is why we’re here,” he concluded.
