Victory for Malagueñas (2-0)

The goals from Joaquín Muñoz – debut goal - and Luis Muñoz secured the three points against Rayo Vallecano.

The Malaguistas and Rayistas played each other on matchday 26 of LaLiga SmartBank on a beautiful night of football. On this Sunday 21st February in the Costa del Sol capital, the rain gave the match a lightning pace in the initial stages of play. Although as time went on, the soggy conditions weighed on the legs of the 22 players.

The Blue and Whites took a very early lead. Joaquín Muñoz put the home side in front no sooner had the game got underway. The Malagueño made his Blue and White scoring debut with a shot from in front of the area following a corner (1-0, Min. 3).

After the goal, the visitors attempted to go level, but the expeditious local defence didn’t allow them any options.

With 25 minutes on the clock, Ismael Casas launched a perfect cross to Luis Muñoz, who with an elegant volley sent the ball into the back of the net. A goal worth watching on repeat, and one that makes this sport even more spectacular (2-0).

The score gave Pellicer’s men even more of a boost to look for a third, as they maintained intensity in the pressure and on the exit of the ball. However, despite the odd dangerous approach, at half-time the scoreboard remained at 2-0.

The Madrid-based outfit kicked off the second half determined to narrow the gap. Yet once again the Málaga CF defence put paid to their attempts. The Blue and Whites adapted to playing with the wind in their favour and regulated the pace of play.

Chavarría had an opportunity to score the team’s third goal of the night. After a quick run, the striker skied his shot over the target in minute 68.

At the full-time whistle, the scoreboard remained at 2-0, leaving the three points at La Rosaleda.
