Víctor: “By improving our finishing technique, we’ll be closer to victory”

The Málaga CF coach talked about the ‘FIFA Virus’ that is affecting the team this matchday, but is full of motivation ahead of the upcoming match against AD Alcorcón: “We are always optimistic and the greatest optimism we have is that we accept reality”.

AD Alcorcón

“It will be a very competitive game, against a rival with significant versatility in terms of game structure. They offer a great deal of variety on the attack, so you need to stay alert. Defensively they are very well organised and have a high level of aggressiveness. In addition, they have a good success rate when it comes to disputing duels. Without doubt it will be a highly competitive match, as they all are. It will be decided on who makes the most of their opportunities. The aspect of our performance we’re working on improving is our finishing, and we’re aware of that. We know that by improving our finishing technique, we’ll be closer to victory”.

Good memories, debut with Málaga CF

“The match is special because it brings back good memories. It was our debut with Málaga last season. They are good memories, but what matters is now. The preparation of this match is about the reality and the present”.

FIFA Virus

“Under these circumstances, we can’t complete an 18-player line-up, due to the players on international duty, with 17 professional players on the squad and with the regulation that only permits us to have six players from the reserve team, we’re not going to reach 18. Therefore, perhaps we’ll have to make the decision to take certain players who aren’t 100 per cent recovered in order to protect us from making an improper line-up. We always want to preserve the health and fitness of the players, we don’t want to run any physical risks, but we need to evaluate all options. We’ll decide tomorrow. We’ll have to wait for tomorrow’s information.”

Optimism

We are always optimistic and the greatest optimism we have is that we accept reality. We are confident in the recovery training of the workers within the Club. The injuries haven’t been serious, and the recovery time is shorter. If they’re not there, for whatever reason, we’ll remain optimistic”.

Recovery of injured players

“Whilst there is time, there are possibilities. Sadiku is in his recovery process. Today he carried out part of the training session with the group since it was a shorter session and less physical load and he tolerated it without any problems. The test has been positive. We’ll wait until the day and, of course, there’s a possibility he’ll be fit for tomorrow”.
