Casado arrives at La Rosaleda from the Mutua Madrid Tennis Open, where he did an outstanding job as Executive Director General in a tournament which has become one of the highlights of the international ATP circuit.  His extensive career is intrinsically linked to sport, having been developed in both France and Spain, as Director General of Marketing and Commerce for Grupo Santa Mónica, and as the French Youth and Sport Ministry’s Head of ‘Le Tour De France du Sport Populaire’ during the 1998 World Cup.
Born 40 years ago in Paris, Vicente Casado Salgado has a degree in an Industrial Psychology from the University of Paris, specialising in Management and Marketing Strategy and Sports Sponsorship.  His professional career began in ‘Action Michel Platini’, where he was responsible for training in the UEFA president’s Foundation.  When the World Cup arrived in France in 1998, Casado took the reins as Head of  the ‘Le Tour de France du Sport Populaire’ project, taking the World Cup phenomenon to all the country’s major cities through an initiative organised by France’s Youth and Sport Ministry.
A son of Spanish immigrants, Vicente Casado Salgado moved to Spain in 2002 to be involved with an exciting project: the Madrid Masters Series.  It was during this period that the Madrid contest became the biggest indoor tournament of its kind in the world based on attendance figures.
In February 2005, Málaga Club de Fútbol’s new Director of Business Development joined the Royal Federation of Spanish Football (RFEF), successfully creating their first Marketing and Commercial department; a position he left in 2009 to return to the Mutua Madrid Open, consolidating the event into one of the most important social events in Spain with one of the most spectacular VIP areas anywhere in the world.
Throughout his professional career, Vicente Casado has maintained a close relationship with training projects, playing a major role in UEFA and FIFA’s flagship programmes at their headquarters in Nyon and Zurich, respectively.  Before signing with Málaga Club de Fútbol, he led Real Madrid’s MBA Marketing department in the Universidad Europea de Madrid in its five terms, whilst co-ordinating the Valle de México and Sao Paulo Universities’ departments at the same time.
Vicente Casado, Director of Business Development:
“Málaga Club de Fútbol’s project is long-term and ambitious. I really liked way that even from today Málaga is looking to the future: the organisation, the sports team, Fernando Hierro…Everything shows you that behind this there’s a very robust project.  I come to join Málaga with all my five senses, to give 200 per cent of what I’ve learnt on a national and international level.  I’m at the service of Málaga.
As was the case with the Federation and the ‘Master Series de Madrid’, as it was known then, the idea of creating a new department and setting up new features appeals to me greatly.
I think it’s a Club without limits, in the best possible sense. It’s a diamond in the rough. It is such an ambitious project that will see the organisation itself and the sporting results develop; but even from the start it’s all going very well. We’re going to give everything to make sure that in the future we see a great Málaga with a great team of professionals behind the scenes, to turn this organisation into one of the big names on the world stage.”
