Versatility and experience with Aarón Ñíguez

Málaga CF incorporates the Elche-born player into the first team, arriving on a free transfer until the end of the current season, occupying the 18th available professional registration on the team.

Aarón Ñíguez has arrived in Málaga, passed the relevant medical and will be presented tomorrow, Thursday at the ‘Juan Cortés’ press room at La Rosaleda Stadium.

Training at Valencia CF

Aarón Ñíguez Esclapez (Elche, 1989) is a technical, attacking player, with the ability to play in multiple positions in midfield and upfront. He trained in the youth ranks of Valencia CF (2000-06) and debuted with the ‘Che’ team at just 17 years of age, playing in the Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League in the 2006/07 season.

Subsequently, on loan from Valencia, he played for various clubs in the Second Division. Namely Xerez CD (2007/08), RC Celta de Vigo (2009/10) and RC Recreativo de Huelva (2010/11), as well as being loaned out to Greek outfit Iraklis (2008) and the prestigious Rangers FC, where he won the Scottish Premiership and FA Cup (2008/09).

Extensive career in First and Second Division

Aarón left Valencia CF and signed to Almería CF in 2011/12. The following season, he left Almería in winter and moved to Elche CF. Curiously, both teams moved up to the First Division during that 2012/13 campaign. With Elche he played two seasons in the elite between 2013 and 2015 and then moved away from Spain to Braga, where he won the Taça de Portugal (2015/16). In recent years he returned to Liga SmartBank playing an important role with CD Tenerife (2016/17) and Real Oviedo (2017-19). His last, exotic experience, in 2019, was with Johor Darul Ta’zim FC in the Malaysia Super League.

International youth ranks

In formative football he was a very prominent player in Spain’s youth ranks, an international in all categories from the Under-16s to the Under-21s (4 matches, 1 goal). With the U-20s, in 2009, he took part in the World Cup in Egypt alongside teammates such as former Malaguista Asenjo, Azpilicueta, Jordi Alba, Dani Parejo and Ander Herrera, amongst others. His stellar performance featured 4 goals in 4 matches.
