Adalberto Peñaranda scored and reached the semi-finals of the Under-20 World Cup with Venezuela’s Under-20s, whilst Mikel played an entire friendly between ‘La Vinotinto’ first team and the USA.
This Sunday morning, in the Korea Republic, Peñaranda participated in the Under-20 World Cup quarter-final between Venezuela and the USA. Following a 0-0 result after 90 minutes, the striker on loan from Watford scored the 1-0 in minute 96 of extra time. Soon after, Venezuela were 2-0 up (Nahuel, 115’), and Peñaranda was substituted in 113’ by his teammate, Luis Ruiz. Jeremy in minute 117 put the USA on the scoreboard, but the final 2-1 result gives Venezuela a ticket to the semi-finals.
In addition, Mikel Villanueva was in action in a friendly in Salt Lake City (Utah) last night, which pitted Venezuela against the USA, with a final result of 1-1. The Malaguista defender played the whole match in his usual position of left-back.
