Málaga CF’s first team masseuse, Marcelino Torrontegui, is taking part in the World Cycling Championships, held in Valkenburg, in the Limburg region of Holland.
The ‘Malaguista’ is participating in this gruelling competition, beginning his route on Sunday 23rd September, including another nine new members of Spain’s team: Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valderde, Joaquim “Purito” Rodríguez, Samuel Sánchez, Óscar Freire, Juan Antonio Flecha, Johnatan Castroviejo, Pablo Lastras and Daniel Moreno.
This will be the 21st championships that “Torron” has taken part in, making his debut in 1991 in Stuttgart, where the great Miguel Induráin won a bronze medal. The Asturian-born massage therapist has taken part in five world titles with Spanish cyclists: a gold for Abraham Olano, another for Igor Astarloa and three for Óscar Freire.
