Tenerife, kilometre 40

Pablo Adrián Guede’s Málaga achieved a crucial win yesterday at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López to edge closer to continuity for another season in LaLiga SmartBank.

The 0-2 win in Tenerife will certainly be one of the most memorable Blue and White victories. Here are some of the highlights from #TenerifeMálaga!

Vadillo and Febas make the difference

Coincidence or not, the winter reinforcements made the difference on the scoreboard with their goals. Two elite players on loan from First Division teams, who the Club's sports management signed ahead of other prestigious clubs. With the conviction that, with the pace of play, they would be fundamental in the final stretch of the season. The success of both signings is more than evident.

Decisive Dani Martín

When a goalkeeper intervenes at key moments during play, their work stands out. In the case of the Asturian keeper, due to the significance of the game, his performance yesterday was outstanding. Before half-time he made a stunning save from an Enric Gallego attempt to prevent the 1-1. In the second half he intervened once again (when we were 0-2 up) with a good clearance from a Shaq Moore shot and a one-on-one with Mollejo. Nice work Dani.

Luis is back

After seven and a half months, Luis Muñoz is back wearing the Malaguista jersey in an official game. The captain brought consistency to midfield, held up well on a physical level and came close to scoring the second goal, the work of Febas, after the keeper’s clearance of the shot by the number ‘8’ from Nueva Málaga. In minute 62 he was substituted, receiving a hug from each one of his teammates.

+5 with 6 to go

There are only two matches remaining until the end of the season and Málaga CF took a huge step towards safety in Tenerife. Three golden points to give the team a +5 point lead over their immediate followers, Real Sociedad B and SD Amorebieta, with 6 at stake. A win at home against Burgos will mathematically secure our place in the Second Division.
