Tapia to head up the Málaga CF Academy

Antonio Tapia is returning to the Club to head up the Academy. A benchmark in the history of youth football in Málaga and the Malaguista first team.

Málaga Club de Fútbol is reinforcing its youth ranks with an icon of the Malaguista first and reserve teams. Tapia joins the Entity of other Malaguistas including Benítez, Ben Barek, Manolo Gaspar, Ruano, Fernando, Marcelo Romero, Basti, Josemi and sports director, Mario Husillos, setting the trend in the model of the Club.

Antonio Tapia Flores has had an extensive, successful career with Málaga CF. The ‘teacher’ has been a point of reference in the first team and youth ranks, where he reached unrivalled milestones. Tapia coached an historic Málaga B that ascended from Second B to Second Division, developing youth players who went on to have a career in the elite such as Calatayud, Manolo Gaspar, Juan Rodríguez, Nacho, Juanito, Koke and Alexis.

Subsequently, he was the first coach of Málaga CF in the First Division (2004-06 and 2008-09). During these two stages, he also showed his character as a man of the house, in delicate situations, maximising resources and obtaining a superb performance from players like Duda, or youngsters, such as homegrown player, Jesús Gámez.

Antonio Tapia, a connoisseur of the Malaguista youth ranks and Málaga football, guarantees hard work dedication and passion in his new role as director of the Club’s Academy.
