‘Supercapacitad@s’ Football Tournament

The Málaga CF Foundation, with the sponsorship of the Diputación de Málaga and support of the sport department of the Alhaurín de la Torre Town Hall, is organising a 7-a-side football tournament between Málaga CF EDI, ADIMI, Espíritu deportivo and AFENES.

This Saturday the Málaga CF Foundation is organising the I Supercapacitad@s Football Tournament. The tournament will be played in a triangular formation between the Málaga CF EDI, ADIMI and Espíritu Deportivo teams. Following these three games, the Málaga CF Foundation and AFENES will play an exhibition match.

There will be no charge to enter ‘Los Manantiales’ football ground, however tickets will be given in exchange for two kilos of food or a new toy. To liven up the day, Canal Sur RTVA journalist Juan Carlos Tirado will act as speaker and commentate on the proceedings. In addition, after the games the participants can enjoy a plate of paella.

The tournament, which seeks the co-existence and normalisation of sports for people with intellectual disabilities, is sponsored by the Diputación de Málaga with collaboration from the sport department of the Alhaurín de la Torre Town Hall.

At the presentation ceremony were Cristóbal Ortega (sports delegate), Prudencio José Ruiz Rodríguez (Alhaurín de la Torre Town Hall councillor), Sebastián Fernández Reyes, ‘Basti’ (Foundation’s Social Department) and first team player Adrián González.

Statements | Press Conference

  • Cristóbal Ortega: "Thank you to the Málaga CF Foundation for all this hard work helping these people who don’t have easy access to sports. We are delighted with the work you’re doing, with the excitement being generated, but above all it’s wonderful to see the players’ faces every time they play a match. In addition, it’s a charity tournament as food and toys will be collected for those in need”.
  • Prudencio José Ruiz: “I’d like to thank, congratulate and highlight the work undertaken by the groups, the clubs that participate, but especially the parents and teachers, who are typically the most forgotten in people with functional diversity”.
  • Basti: “Entrance is free, I urge all Malagueños, Malaguistas and the people of Alhaurín de la Torre to come on down. The food and toy collection is also very important to us at this time of year. We’re going to have a great day on the 22nd as the mums and dads and everyone surrounding the players are as thrilled as we are”.
