Stunning goal from Escassi seals first win of the season (1-0)

Victory for Málaga CF against AD Alcorcón at La Rosaleda Stadium on matchday 3 of LaLiga SmartBank. A great goal from Escassi in the first half led the team to their first home win of the 21/22 season.

José Alberto introduced several changes to the starting-11 in relation to the previous line-up in Ibiza. Javi Jiménez and Ismael were replaced by Cufré and Víctor Gómez, who made his Malaguista debut, becoming player number 400 to wear the MCF jersey in an official match.

As happened against Mirandés, Málaga got off to a pacey start. In 6’, Paulino could have scored but the ball was deflected by Dani Giménez, who went on to prevent an attempt from Brandon in 11’. Two minutes later, Martiricos gave Manolo Gaspar a standing ovation in 13’, a lucky number for the Blue and White Sporting Director.

For the visitors, Juan Hernández was incisive on the attack. In minute 26, Moyano had a chance for Alcorcón, but his attempt was saved by Dani Barrio. After the first third of play. Escassi launched a powerful shot from outside the area to open the scoring (1-0, 35’). The Blue and White crowd went crazy enjoying their team’s first goal of the season at home. At half-time the score remained 1-0 to the delight of the fans.

There were no changes for either team at the start of the second half, yet there was an exchange of clear opportunities for both. Xisco in 53’ propelled a shot from the edge of the area that was stopped in its tracks by Dani Barrio. Immediately afterwards, Kevin fired from the left wing and sent the ball over the crossbar. Peybernes scored in 58’, but his goal was disallowed for being clearly offside.

Brandon, in 65’, tried his luck with a low shot that went wide of the right post. Soon after, José Alberto made his first substitution. There was an ovation for Antoñín as he left the pitch and also for Roberto who took his place. The player from Puente Genil, in 71’, entered on the right and assisted Luis Muñoz who launched a close range shot at the target that came up against Jiménez. So close to a second goal. Again, Roberto from a counter-attack sent the ball over the crossbar in 78’. Two minutes later, Genaro strengthened midfield in place of Kevin who went off to rapturous applause.

In the closing stages, MCF knew how to control the rival and safeguard their lead on the scoreboard. Just before the final whistle, Escassi was shown his second yellow card and was sent off. The first victory of the season and five out of a possible nine points for MCF who remain undefeated in LaLiga SmartBank. Vamos, Málaga!
