Juanmi, a footballer from early on
Juanmi (Coín, Málaga, 20/05/1993) joined the ‘Malaguista’ youth ranks and soon began to stand out amongst his teammates.  At only 16 years of age he made his first team debut in an official match.  It was in 2009/10 in a Copa del Rey clash with Getafe CF at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.  As well as scoring a goal, he became one of the youngest players to score in an official match.
Juanmi kicked off the 2010/11 season by breaking another record; scoring two goals in a League match against Zaragoza at La Romareda.  He then became the youngest scorer of two goals.  During the following two years, 2011/12 and 2012/13, the ‘Malaguista’ striker didn’t have too much involvement with the first team, and was loaned out to Racing de Santander in the 2012/13 winter transfer window.  Here he played 19 Second Division games.
Returning to Málaga CF in 2013/14, Juanmi took on a bigger role.  He took part in 22 League matches and scored four goals.  Last season was his best as a ‘Malaguista’, participating in 34 League games and scoring eight goals, his top scoring record.  He also wore the captain’s armband at just 21 years old, and his goal at the Nou Camp, which resulted in an historic victory, will always be remembered by every ‘Malaguista’ fan.
Statistics as a ‘Malaguista’
During his six seasons as part of the first team, Juanmi has taken part in a total of 85 First Division League games; 8 Copa del Rey and 2 UEFA Champions League matches (in total, 95 official games wearing the Blue and Whites’ shirt).  With regards to goals, the Coín-born striker has scored 18 times in the highest category of Spanish football, with the last campaign, when he scored 8 goals, his best season.  Juanmi has scored 3 goals in the Copa del Rey.
International with Spain
From an early age, Juanmi was part of all categories with Spain, claiming the European Championships title with Spain’s under-19s in 2011 and 2012.  On 31st March 2015, Juanmi made his official debut with Spain in an international friendly, which saw Del Bosque’s side face Holland at the Amsterdam Arena.
