Solid and well-deserved victory in the derby (0-3)

Málaga CF won on their visit to Cádiz CF on matchday 31 of LaLiga Hypermotion. Chupe, with another brace (22’ and 33’), and Dani Lorenzo (47’) were the Malaguista scorers.

Málaga Club de Fútbol and Cádiz CF faced each other on matchday 31 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION at the JP Financial Stadium. On the pitch, Funes lined up the following starting-11: Alfonso Herrero; C. Puga, Murillo, Montero, Dani Sánchez; Izan M., Dotor, Dani Lorenzo; D. Larrubia, Joaquín, and Chupe.

Málaga CF’s first big chance came through Dotor (9’). The midfielder made his way into the box and was picked out by David Larrubia. His angled shot went just wide.

The opening goal of the match arrived in the 22nd minute, and it was for the Blue and Whites. Dotor intercepted the ball in midfield and found Chupe, who struck powerfully from the edge of the box to make it 0-1 at the JP Financial Stadium. Chupe didn’t take long to continue his scoring streak, and his braces. In the 33rd minute, Joaquín found him inside the area and, after evading two defenders, he finished past David Gil (0-2).

Málaga had more chances, most notably a shot from Joaquín that struck the post (28’). Even so, it was 0-2 at half-time.

After the break, there were no changes for the Blue and Whites. Funes’ side came out very sharp and scored in the 47th minute. Following a long ball from Alfonso, Dani Sánchez delivered a good pass to Dani Lorenzo at the edge of the box. The number 22 nutmegged the defender and poked the ball past the onrushing home goalkeeper to make it 0-3 at the Cádiz stadium.

In the 65th minute, Málaga made their first substitutions, completely refreshing the left flank. Víctor and Dorrio came on to replace Joaquín and Dani Sánchez. Shortly after, in the 68th minute, Aaron Ochoa replaced Dotor. Finally, Funes completed the substitutions with the introduction of Lobete and Jauregi for David Larrubia and Chupe in the 79th minute.

Málaga CF could have scored a fourth goal on three occasions in the final 10 minutes. First, Jauregi went one-on-one after receiving a through ball from Aaron Ochoa, but the Cádiz goalkeeper won the duel. The Ireland U-21 international then tried his luck with a curling shot from outside the box, and Lobete also had an effort with his left foot that went wide.

The strong performance in La Tacita de Plata ended in a 0-3 victory, with the Blue and Whites reaching 54 points.
