Sierra de Yeguas joins the team in Castellón

Málaga CF strengthens its bond with the municipalities of the Costa del Sol. On this occasion, José Luis Puche delights us with an exceptional piece that captures the magic of the mare of Sierra de Yeguas.

Málaga CF will travel to Skyfi Castalia to play the LALIGA HYPERMOTION matchday 17 fixture against CD Castellón. This exciting match will take place on Sunday 1st December at 14:00 and will feature Sierra de Yeguas in the design of the match poster and on the Blue and White captain's armband.

Sierra de Yeguas, located to the northwest of Málaga, on the border with Sevilla, stretches across mountains and plateaus that form its unique landscape. Dominated by the Sierra de los Caballos and hills such as El Tambor, this municipality is a true reflection of the natural beauty of Andalucía.

The town, founded in the 16th century, treasures Neolithic remains and a history closely tied to horse breeding. Its past includes the possible passage of troops in 1410 and the vision of Don Francisco Granados Arjona, who discovered the water that would later transform the town decades later.

The town holds memories in every stone that makes it up. The parish church of the Immaculate Conception stands out for its imposing stone facade and tower topped with reddish tiles. Beyond that, the Roman baths of La Haza de Estepa, although crumbled over the centuries, still feature fragments of a mosaic that transport visitors to the grandeur of ancient Rome.

Its landscape flows between gentle hills covered with shrubs and pines, where the Llanos de Navahermosa, a protected agricultural plain, stretches out. Olive trees, almond trees, and vineyards complete this scene, reflecting the serenity and rural life of the area.

Its cuisine is deeply rooted in local products, such as olive oil and flour. Among its most representative dishes are porra campera, gazpacho, and potaje de bacalao. Traditional sweets, such as pinonos and magdalenas, accompany cured meats, rabbit, partridge, and goat cheese, creating a culinary offering full of flavour.

Sierra de Yeguas knows how to make every celebration an unforgettable experience. In February, the Candelarias give way to a night of fire and togetherness. In April, the Feria del Espárrago showcases the best of the land, offering a taste of local flavours. And in August, San Bartolomé is honoured with processions, music, and joy.

The poster for the upcoming match against CD Castellón and the armband worn by our captain bear the mark of the talented José Luis Puche, who has skilfully captured the essence of the municipalities of Málaga. The artwork features the majestic head of the mare statue, a symbol of the town, in a vibrant green that shines against a serene blue sky.
