Round Table against Gender Violence

Málaga CF defender, Miguel Torres took part in an event organised by the MCF Foundation today at ‘La Presentación’ School in the capital.

Under the slogan ‘A TEAM against Gender Violence’, the Málaga Club de Fútbol Foundation held a round table discussion aiming to raise awareness to young children about this problem that affects general society.

The event was attended by representatives from Málaga institutions.  The government sub-delegate in Málaga, Miguel Briones; Mar Torres, director of Social Rights at the Málaga Town Hall; Rosa del Mar, coordinator of the Women’s Institute in Málaga; Encarnación Jiménez, the director of Equality in provincial government; and the director of La Presentación School, Paloma Aranda all advised the pupils on ways to combat Gender Violence.

Miguel Torres, who was accompanied by the technical secretary and assistant coach to Málaga CF femenino, Isa Guerrero, says that combatting sexist violence is “everyone’s responsibility.  It’s a problem we see every day, and anything that we can contribute from our point of view, as exemplary athletes that we must be, is welcome.  I am delighted to be here, to tell the children my vision and opinion on this subject”.

The participants, along with a player from the Blue and Whites’ women’s team and two students from the school, concluded the event with a team photograph, in which everyone posed with shirts bearing the slogan “A TEAM against Gender Violence”.

The MCF Foundation and government sub-delegation in Málaga signed a collaboration protocol for the development of activities aimed at information, awareness and the prevention of violence against women.
