Rondón: "We never lacked intensity and maintained a good level of play”

Málaga Club de Fútbol players, Portillo, Rondón and Duda, spoke to the media in the ‘zona mixta’ following the FC Barcelona – Málaga CF match (4-1).

Portillo
“The team played a good game, and we should be pleased with our performance, which ended with an unfair result.  Now we’re focusing on our next rival, Atlético de Madrid.  I’m not going to mention any players in particular, they’re a good team”.

“The two penalties came at a bad time for us, but now we’re looking to the future”.

Rondón
“It’s not the same when you score a goal, and still lose the match, but I think we played well, particularly equalising before half time.  I don’t think either of the two penalties were at all justified, not from where I was standing on the pitch”.

“We never lacked intensity and emotion in the game, until perhaps after the penalties.  When it came to clear chances to score, they didn’t really have any, unlike us”.

“We’re still in fourth position in the League, and the results of other teams have gone in our favour.  However we have a final on Saturday, which we need to keep working and preparing for.  Every member of the team performed well, and we’ve again shown we’re all at a very high level”.

Duda
“We were playing a very good game, but the referee’s decisions didn’t reflect this.  We’ve got a crucial match on Saturday, and that’s what’s important now”.

“As a team we’ve demonstrated we can play against anyone, and even though we didn’t earn any points, we played well and did everything we could”.
