An evening of football at the Ciudad Deportiva Fundación MCF, with the Blue and Whites once again backed by their supporters as they welcomed CF Unión Viera. The Malaguistas were playing their third league game of the season at home, with kick-off at 19:00.
Héctor Díaz named a starting-11 of M. Arrabal; Encarni, Jeni L., Yoli Peche ©, Elsa; Carmela, Marina Tomás, Andrea Herr., L. Ramos; Futu and Torralvo. Andrea Ríos, Lucía Correro, Yessenia A.M. and Alba Navarro also featured in the second half.
Málaga took the initiative from the opening minutes, enjoying more possession and posing the greater attacking threat. Torralvo came close in the 18th minute, but it was the visitors who took the lead in minute 22 through Amelie.
The home side responded quickly. Andrea Herrero levelled the score with a header in the 25th minute, and Futu came close to completing the turnaround just a minute later. The forward did find the net in the 38th minute, firing a low, angled shot into the far corner to put Málaga 2-1 ahead at the break.
The second half saw the visitors level the score once again. Manuela made it 2-2 in minute 51, before Sheila P. put CF Unión Viera in front from the penalty spot in the 71st minute. Málaga refused to give up and levelled once more through a well-taken finish from Jeni L. following a corner delivered by Lucía Ramos.
The Blue and Whites pushed for the winner until the final whistle, but 3-3 proved to be the final score. The point takes Málaga onto seven points in the standings ahead of next weekend’s trip to EMF Soliss Fuensalida.
