A point a piece against Córdoba CF (1-1)

All square for MCF and the Green and Whites in this Sunday’s game at La Rosaleda. Goals from Simo (40’) and Málaga’s Haitam (86’) sealed the end result.

Málaga CF and Córdoba CF faced one another on matchday 11 of the Primera Federación at La Rosaleda in front of 24.838 fans. Once again, the Blue and White stadium featured a spectacular atmosphere.

The MCF starting line-up consisted of: Jokin, Nelson, Einar, Dani Sánchez; Genaro, Dani Lorenzo, Kevin, Larrubia; Dioni and Roberto. Both teams fought to take control of possession in the wide area of the pitch. Córdoba CF were the first to take the lead through Simo, who made it 0-1 with his header in the 40th minute.

After the break, the second half got off to lively start. The Blue and Whites tried to find a rapid equaliser; Nelson headed a great cross from the right that, unfortunately, didn’t come as a surprise to the rival goalkeeper who managed to block the shot (48').

Both teams exchanged dangerous approaches in the subsequent minutes, one of the clearest being in minute 64. Kevin served an intelligent low pass from the left wing to the penalty spot, finished by Larrubia. His powerful shot came up against a rival defender who took possession. The rebound fell at the feet of Dani Lorenzo who, without thinking, hit the ball hard into the top corner, but it collided with the crossbar.

A few minutes later La Rosaleda got to its feet again with a new opportunity. Jokin sent a remote cross from the right wing to the far post that was accommodated by Dioni. The forward executed with force, but the rival goalkeeper deflected it for a corner (68').

After a lot of back and forth, the home side went level. Roberto managed to get a low cross from the left of the area to reach Haitam. The winger, who hadn’t been on the pitch for too long, slammed the ball into the back of the net to the delight of the crowd (1-1, 86').

In the last stages of play, Einar brought down an opponent who was facing the opposing goal to earn him the second yellow card of the match (90'+), leaving the Blue and Whites down to 10 men. This didn’t diminish the locals' attempts to turn the match around, as they went all out on the attack. However, despite the offensive display, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
