José Luis García del Pozo ‘Recio’ held a press conference ahead of the Costa del Sol Cup, taking place this Saturday 6th August at 21:00, between Málaga CF and UC Sampdoria at La Rosaleda.
32nd Costa del Sol Cup
“The Costa del Sol is our Cup, and we enjoy taking part in the competition. It’s the presentation match in front of our fans, who are excited about the new signings. We’re optimistic, although must remain cautious as we know what the Spanish LaLiga is like, the most difficult and top level, so we need to be wary. There will be good and bad times, it’s going to be tough but I trust in the team and the work we’re doing. I think we can have a good year.”
Carranza Cup
“They are two good trophies, against strong teams such as Sampdoria, and those who take part in the Carranza Cup, where there are also great rivals. There are two weekends left until LaLiga kicks off, and we’re continuing our preparations, trying to focus on the positives and are all looking forward to the 19th. We can’t wait for LaLiga to start.”
Pre-season work
“During the pre-season, although the result isn’t as important, what we want to do is what we’ve been concentrating on in training, and what the coach wants us to do in matches, as one always likes to win. Whenever you win, even in friendlies, it’s because you’re doing things well, and it will be no less important on Saturday. If there’s one match during this pre-season we want to win it’s this Saturday’s, as it’s our Cup and we want it to stay at home.”
