UNICEF and La Liga are joining in the #ElFutbolConNepal campaign during the 36th and 37th BBVA and ‘Adelante’ Leagues respectively.
UNICEF’s Spanish Committee and La Liga, via the Professional Football Foundation, are launching a joint campaign during the 36th BBVA League match and 37th ‘Adelante’ League match of the season, to work together for the children affected by the earthquake in Nepal.
This initiative, in collaboration with the Clubs and associations in La Liga, aim to join forces to get the maximum number of Spanish football fans to help this cause. On the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th May, BBVA and ‘Adelante’ League players will step on to the pitch wearing t-shirts bearing the slogan ‘PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL WITH NEPAL / SEND UNICEF TO 38080’. A canvas will also be displayed with the same message, following which a short video will be projected recalling this humanitarian catastrophe.
Thanks to our society’s cooperation, UNICEF has sent over 85 metric tonnes of humanitarian aid, including camping tents, plastic sheeting, blankets and vital medicines. This week another two planes are heading to Kathmandu carrying 80 tonnes of supplies thanks to funding from the European Commission.
Furthermore, the great contribution via SMS to 38080 has allowed drinking water to be supplied to more than 124,000 people; 2 million vitamin supplements; 18 tonnes of high-energy biscuits; 6 emergency medical kits to treat 180,000 people within a month and the creation of 22 child-friendly spaces for help over 2,200 children, amongst many other things.
Given the magnitude of this disaster that hit the Asian country 13 days ago, La Liga encourages all followers of professional football to make a small collective effort, which will be of great help to the children affected by the earthquake. Get behind #ElFutbolConNepal!
