Preview: Málaga CF – RC Deportivo de la Coruña

Málaga CF and Deportivo de la Coruña will lock horns at La Rosaleda on Saturday from 10:05 p.m. (Channel 1) for the 9th LaLiga game of 2015/16.

The ‘Malaguistas’, currently in 17th place with 6 points, will welcome Deportivo, in 6th place with 13 points.  In the Spanish footballing elite, at the Martiricos ground (under the denomination MCF), these two rivals have faced each other 12 times, resulting in two victories for the ‘Malaguistas’, eight draws and two wins for Deportivo.  Málaga have accumulated eight matches on the run without a defeat, scoring 11 goals and conceding 12.

 

The match with the most goals, and at the same time the last and biggest MCF win against Deportivo at home, was in the 37th match of the 2012/13 season.  Pellegrini’s Málaga won by 3-1, thanks to goals from Baptista, Isco and Saviola (Salomao scored for the visitors).

 

The referee in charge tomorrow is Carlos Velasco Carballo from Madrid.  In LaLiga, he has arbitrated 11 Málaga matches at home (six victories, two draws and three defeats), and seven of Deportivo’s away games (four wins, two draws and one loss).

 

To take into account:

  • Alberto Luque, Munúa, Adrián López, Juan Rodríguez, Saúl and Luis Alberto have played for both clubs.
  • If he plays, Juankar will rack up 100 LaLiga matches (1 with Real Madrid, 24 with Zaragoza, 45 with Betis, 21 with Granada and 8 with MCF).
  • Duda has played the most games (MCF-DEP), reaching 7, whilst Darío Silva is the highest goal-scorer between these two rivals at La Rosaleda, with three goals.
  • The first Málaga CF-Deportivo match took place on 5th March 2000, the 27th match of the 1999/00 season, ending in a 1-0 victory for the ‘Malaguistas’ thanks to a goal from Darío in minute 2.
