Victoriano Giráldez Carrasco was a professional referee, and as a linesman he was an international with Antonio Jesús López Nieto’s team, taking part in various UEFA Champions League matches, Copa del Rey finals and the World Cup held in Germany in 2006.
He is now Málaga CF’s pitch delegate, and must ensure that La Rosaleda complies with all requirements of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in order for a First Division match to take place. In the worst case, this responsibility could lead to expulsion or sanction, the same as a player or member of a Club’s coaching team.
The pitch delegate is also the contact person for the referee should an incident occur at the stadium or on the pitch during a game.
