The Blue and Whites’ Club honours José Pons García (Valencia, 14/03/1945), who grew up in Levante and was later a ‘Malaguista’ player between 1967/68 and 1973/74.
Club advisers, Abdullah Ben Barek and Francisco Martín Aguilar presented Pepe Pons with a shirt bearing his name at the team’s concentration hotel in Valencia this morning. The Valencian-born striker developed his sporting career between Levante UD and CD Málaga in the 60s and 70s.
Pepe Pons debuted with Levante in the 1964/75 season, and in 1967/68, at 22 years of age, signed to Málaga where he remained for seven seasons (six of which were in the First Division), scoring 18 goals.
