Pellicer: “We’re ambitious in the face of a tough match”

The coach, who made his debut in the Malaguista dugout against tomorrow’s rival, held a remote press conference in the run-up to #PonferradinaMálaga. “We have fond memories, but the past is irrelevant, it’s all about the here and now and claiming the three points”, he stated.

“Bolo is a coach who was in Segunda B, this is his third season. They are a team with a very clear style, that win or draw, and recently were in the top part of the standings. A point or a goal means you can go up or down a few places. They are a team in the process of achieving consistency, they’ve had positive results and other not so great results at home. They have an ample squad, players such as Yuri and Curro who, although they aren’t finding an easy goal, last year scored 30 goals between them. The game will be marked by small details, we need to maintain a face pace. Both teams will have to be very focused as it’s going to be a high-intensity game, with many second plays, lots of crosses and fast transitions. We’ll have to stay strong in defence and stay vertical on the attack when we have the ball. In addition, we want to score points and return to the previous dynamic of the past four games when we claimed points. That’s our idea”.

“We’ll experience it as if it were the first day, and indeed the last. We have fond memories, but the past is irrelevant, it’s all about the here and now and claiming the three points, to reach 20. That will create enthusiasm, boost the players’ mentality, allowing us to believe and reach the objective. We’re ambitious in the face of an incredibly tough match. Great memories on the road to where we are now”:

“For the short-term, there are three points at stake that will make us focus on the medium-term, that’s the objective. From then on, we’ll try to keep scoring points, being ambitious and realistic”.
